Archer High School Summer Reading

The Language Arts Department has adopted a prescribed summer reading list for the 2010-11 school year.  The novels selected, both classic and contemporary, will create endless opportunities to discuss literature with classmates, improve reading comprehension, develop a student’s capacity to critically analyze the literary themes and movements that are presented, and hopefully inspire students to become lifelong readers.  When students return to school in the fall, they may use one of these grade level selections to complete independent reading projects assigned in class.  Please click on the “more information” button below to review reading lists by grade level.

 Archer High School will be submitting 60 essays to the Georgia Laws of Life Essay Contest, 15 from each grade level. Guidelines, a sample, and other related materials appear on these pages.

 This submission form is only necessary for the 15 essays selected by each Language Arts grade level (60 total for the school); those students will need to have their parents sign the form before it can be submitted.

 Here are some sample maxims students may use. They may also look up "maxim," "epigram," "proverb," or "quotation" on the web for other ideas.
